Eckville Credit Union - The Right People. The Right Products. The Right Choice.
The Eckville District Savings and Credit Union was incorporated on July 15, 1943, Since that time we have evolved into a full service financial institution offering a broad range of deposit and loan services to our members.
Our Mission Statement is as follows:
To provide financial services to the people of the Eckville trading area through a viable financial co-operative for the social and economic benefit of the membership and the community.”
Exceptional service is how Eckville Credit Union has managed to build long-standing business relationships with our members. These excellent member relationships allow us to continue to be a strong, committed community partner in the Eckville area. We are proud of the fact that recent independent surveys indicate that those who use credit unions for their financial services are the most satisfied with their financial institution.
In addition to the benefits of excellent service and a competitive line of products, there are other benefits to dealing with Eckville Credit Union:
- All funds on deposit with the credit union, including interest, (excluding common shares and mutual funds) are 100% guaranteed. This guarantee is backed by both the Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation and the Government of Alberta. While other financial institutions have a limit on the funds they guarantee, your deposits with Eckville Credit Union are guaranteed up to any dollar amount! Your funds are safe no matter what the future may hold!
- Unlike other financial institutions, Eckville Credit Union provides the benefit of democratic ownership; all members are equal owners, regardless of the number of shares they hold. The people who do business with us elect our board of directors, who watch over the credit union to ensure it is carrying on its business in the best interests of the membership.
- Perhaps the most important difference is that, as an owner, you are able to share in the profits of Eckville Credit Union through dividend payments. Although dividend payments depend on the annual financial performance of the credit union, we are very proud of our history in this regard. It has been commonplace to see a 10% common share dividend as well as additional patronage payments based on the amount of business done with us.
Being locally based and member owned, the Eckville District Savings and Credit Union plays a major role in fostering community well-being by:
- Investing in community projects
- Sponsoring various community activities and events
- Initiating public education programs
- Promoting community economic development
- Providing volunteers to many community groups and events
